Trivandrum Bible Fellowship is a community of Christian believers dedicated to worship and witnessing as guided by Scripture. We aim to connect with like-minded individuals to fulfil the purpose God has set before us. We are rooted in the convictions outlined in our Statement of Faith.
I. THE BIBLE
We believe the Holy Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is divinely inspired by God, without error in its original form, and serves as the ultimate guide for faith and life. Written by men under God’s direction, it stands as the authoritative standard on all matters.
II. THE TRINITY
We believe that there is only one eternal God exists in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each fully divine.
III. JESUS CHRIST
We believe that the eternal Son of God became incarnate as the Lord Jesus Christ, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He is fully God and fully man, revealing God to humanity. Jesus lived a sinless life, died as a substitute for sinners, bore God’s judgment, and was resurrected on the third day, later ascending to heaven.
IV. THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit is sent from heaven by the Father and the Son to glorify Christ and apply the work of salvation in the lives of people. He convicts the world concerning sin, grants new birth, and provides a true understanding of the scriptures.
V. MAN
We believe that the entire human race is created in the image of God. He created male and female, granting them equal dignity and worth, while assigning distinct roles.
VI. SALVATION
We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in the Lord Jesus Christ alone, and not as a result of works. The work of salvation was accomplished by the Lord Jesus Christ through His life and death on the cross and is freely offered to anyone who believes through the proclamation of the gospel.
VII. ASSURANCE OF SALVATION
We believe that all who are born of the Spirit through faith in Christ can have full assurance of their salvation and are eternally secure in Him. This assurance is grounded in the promises of Scripture, which affirm that nothing can separate us from the love of God.
VIII. JUSTIFICATION
We believe that justification is the divine act by which those who believe in Christ are declared righteous. It encompasses the pardon of sin and the promise of eternal life based on Christ’s righteousness.
IX. SANCTIFICATION
We believe that every believer experiences positional sanctification and is promised both progressive and ultimate sanctification. Progressive sanctification is the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in making believers more like Christ, beginning at regeneration. The Holy Spirit, as our comforter and assurance, helps us grow in holiness.
X. REGENERATION
We believe that in order to be saved, all men and women—regardless of caste, colour, or creed—must be regenerated, or be “born again.” Regeneration is the act of God imparting a holy disposition to the mind, caused by the power of the Holy Spirit in a manner beyond our comprehension.
XI. THE CHURCH
We believe the church consists of all born-again believers, serving as the body and bride of Christ through the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
XII. SPIRITUAL GIFTS
We believe that the Holy Spirit gives gifts to believers for the purpose of edifying the church. These gifts are meant to build up the body of Christ and promote spiritual growth among its members.
XIII. BAPTISM AND THE LORD’S SUPPER
We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water, symbolizing their faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior. This act, performed in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, represents our death to sin and resurrection to new life, and it fulfils Christ’s command.
The Lord’s Supper is a sacred observance in which believers commemorate the greatest love of Christ in His death for us through the use of bread and cup. This observance is always preceded by solemn self-examination.
XIV. CIVIL GOVERNMENT
We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interest and good order of human society. Those in authority are to be prayed for and conscientiously honoured. They are to be obeyed except in matters opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the only Lord of the conscience and the prince of the kings of the earth.
XV. DISPENSATIONS
We believe that God has revealed different dispensations or stewardships with corresponding rules of life, the present dispensation being the age of grace.
XVI. BLESSED HOPE
We believe that, according to the Word of God, the next great event in the fulfilment of prophecy will be the coming of the Lord in the air to receive to Himself both His own who are alive and remain unto His coming, and all who have fallen asleep in Jesus. This event is the blessed hope set before us in Scripture, and for this, we should be constantly looking to.
XVII. SECOND COMING OF CHRIST
We believe in the imminent return of Christ as King, who will come in power and glory to fulfil God’s promises. His return will restore all creation, establish His kingdom, and bring all people into a right relationship with God.
XX. THE ETERNAL STATE
We believe that at death, the spirits, and souls of those who have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation pass immediately into His presence and remain in conscious bliss until the resurrection of their glorified bodies. When Christ comes for His own, the soul and body will be reunited and shall be associated with Him forever in glory.
